Researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology in Seewiesen discovered that a single white-browed coucal parent would be sufficient to raise the brood; they believe that females share the job primarily because they are unlikely to find another mate. In white-browed coucals the sex-ratio is relatively balanced, whereas in black coucals there are more than twice as many males than females.

In the dinosaur-rich fossil beds of Morocco, dated to about 100 million years ago, scientists have discovered a strange new crocodile. A fossil was found of an upper and lower jaw preserved together, with oddly shaped teeth. At first, researchers thought it was the snout of a small mammal, but later determined that it belonged to a member of the crocodile-line of evolution. Hardly a monster, this little crocodile-relative would have been less than 2 feet (60 cm) in length.

El Govern aprova el vot electrònic per al catalans residents a l'estranger

El Govern ha donat llum verda aquest dimarts al projecte de llei de votació electrònica per als catalans residents a l'estranger. Així, en les properes setmanes entrarà al Parlament per iniciar el tràmit ordinari –no d'urgència–, i la previsió és que pugui estar aprovada abans de l'estiu. Tal com explicava l'ARA dilluns, si la llei del vot electrònic està aprovat el mes de juny com preveu el Govern, es podria arribar a fer servir en el referèndum previst per la segona setmana de setembre de 2017, sempre que l'eina electoral que es faci servir sigui compatible.
