Lazy Days — Sucre, Bolivia

Sucre, Bolivia

After another five or six near death experiences on the Bolivian roads we arrived in Sucre. It was a relief to not have to deal with the altitude of Potosi where walking up a hill would make you pant like a morbidly-obese American. Many people would come to Sucre because it is anice city with a relaxed vibe, making it a great place to learn some Spanish. I didn't take any Spanish lessons but certainly appreciated having a few relaxed days here.

The first day or two was spent catching up on some sleep after a busy few weeks and enjoying some nice weather in town. We made it down to the park and the cemetery which we had heard were good places to visit. After a long stroll around we found ourselves in a traditional Bolivian restaurant where we had some of the best food we had come across in a while, all for an outrageous £1.

The hostel I was staying in seemed to be either the best or the cheapest in Sucre because I bumped into a load of people who I had met in various other places. On my last night a group from the hostel hit the town and I made the most of what was the first proper night out in a while.

I nursed my hangover the next day by going to a local food market and having a fresh smoothie. I then thought I had seen everything there was to see so hopped on a bus to La Paz which would be sure to throw up a few more interesting stories than Sucre did.
