Global 1200 Heading to Africa

PENSACOLA  --  The big ship that's been a fixture at the Port of Pensacola for over a year is pulling out next week.

A city spokesperson says the Global 1200 is heading to Africa for a two- or three-month job.

The Global 1200 was designed to build and lay pipelines underwater.

It first arrived in Pensacola in August, 2011.
The owners pay the city nearly 1800 dollars a day in fees every day the ship is docked here.

It's scheduled to sail on Monday and is expected to return here, after completing the job.
