Arrival to Bolivia! — La Paz , Bolivia
Today we leave Peru, can't believe it's been 21 days already, can't believe it's the 18th of October! Only feels like yesterday that I said wow its October, I feel like iv been gone from home ages yet the trip has flown by. We headed to the border to go through immigration which as usual is a long and boring process. This is the out where we say goodbye to Carlos which was a bit sad as he's been there all through Peru but excited to get a new guide in Bolivia. First impressions of Bolivia it looks like a shithole, we have stopped in Copacabana for an hour to change busses and its just not pleasant. Hopefully La Paz will be nicer, it's the highest capital in the world. On the bus now got an hour to the port where we have a 10 minute ferry ride then 2 hours to the capital. Gutted that i lost my iphone earphones and now even the ones bunsi gave me from her plane one has broken, no idea where to get earphones in Bolivia. I need moisturiser too my sunburn is pretty bad, the legs are improving but my stomach looks horrendous it's so burnt, hope it will just go brown I have been applying after sun religiously. Will lose a lot of people today as only 7 of us are doing the whole trip to Rio, wonder of we will get a few people join us for Bolivia, hopefully will see Bunsi and Priya again in brazil as I really like them and the four of us are quite close now. Maybe we will get some more boys on the trip, it will just be Yemi otherwise. On the "ferry" over it was hilarious as about 25 of us piled into this speed boat I got very wet as the waves kept coming over the sides. The funniest moment was when Priya dropped her purple gangsta hat in the lake and the boat driver actually went back to go get it! We were all I'm stitches it was soaked, woke us all up on the ride though, hilarious. In La Paz now it's a stunning city to look at, we stopped at a view point and it sprawls out among the mountains it's so vast. I was rather impressed as Bolivia is a poor country yet the city is so big. The hotel is nice it has fast wifi and a hot shower so im loving it. Tomorrow me and Kim are going to post a load of stuff home after a day shopping on the markets there are so many including a black market and a witch market I'm excited, hoping we go to an Indian tonight for the last meal with the group really fancy one. Bit sad that I probably won't see a lot of these people again, I met some good friends in the past 21 days. Just got into bed after a wonderful evening. We all went to a restaurant recommended by the guide and oh my god it was delicious. Most of us had vegetarian lasagne which I polished off very fast, it's so good to have vegetables and after a day of eating snack food which even I have become tied of its so nice to have a proper meal that's good for you. I think we will do an Indian tomorrow, Italian tonight was just yum and it was like £6 for my whole meal including a meal, using and a milkshake. Bolivia may be a bit shittier than Peru but its sooooo much cheaper it's 10 Bolivianos to the pound! We sat and chatted about the markets and what we are all doing over the next week. Saying goodbye to Bunsi and Priya was a bit sad as we have gotten really close but hopefully will be seeing them in a week or at least in Rio. Fingers crossed. Anyway it was a brilliant night and a great farewell meal for some of them. Looking forward to shopping tomorrow and shipping some stuff home I want to get a throw for the sofa and maybe for the bed, can't wait to go home but sooooo enjoying my time here too :) iv seen so much and met so many awesome people.
