AC Milan In Talks to Sign Man City Midfielder Nigel De Jong
San Siro side hope to land Etihad Stadium
Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong has flown to Italy for talks with AC Milan over a permanent deal.
The Holland international has slipped down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium and looks set to try his luck in Serie A.
Preliminary discussions are believed to have been underway for several days and the official Milan TV channel announced on Thursday: "De Jong is on his way to Milan. The medical will be performed tomorrow."

By all accounts Nigel de Jong was happy to fight for his place in the Man City starting eleven, even after the arrival of Jack Rodwell, but it appears that Roberto Mancini has been instructed to trim his squad and sees the Dutchman as a player he can afford to cash in on.
The 27 year old made just 11 Premier League starts last season and could be ready to re-ignite his career at the San Siro rather than spend any more time warming the Man City bench.
Last season Mancini opted to adopt a more attacking formation that required the use of just two central midfielders, spots that were usually handed to Gareth Barry and Yaya Toure leaving the former Ajax and Hamburg man out in the cold.
Roberto Mancini's decision to bring in another central midfielder, Rodwell, may well have confirmed to De Jong just where he stands in the Man City set-up and a move to join Italian giants AC Milan may well be very tempting indeed.
Having spent £18m to sign De Jong three and a half years ago one wonders just how much Man City will hope to make from the sale of the tough tackler.
